Halloween is the time of year when everyone likes to get together and make all kinds of scary crafts. Here are some crafts you can make with your children. These require some crayons, shrinking plastic that you can buy at your local craft store and some scissors and a paint brush.
Halloween Earrings
Using shrinking plastic, draw small pictures of witches, pumpkins, goblins or ghosts and paint with acrylic paint. Cut out the pictures and make a hole at the top of the plastic picture. Place earring holders in the top and you know have a pair of earrings to wear with your costume!
Halloween Placemats
Using cotton material which is doubled in half, in orange and green for the stem, cut a pumpkin out of the cotton material. Use black felt for the eyes and mouth. Sew together the two pumpkin pieces, making sure you sew them inside out and turn them right side up when finished. Finish the end that is opened by hand. Now sew or glue on the green stem and glue on the mouth. You can make the pumpkin cutouts and have the kids design the placemats, making them all unique and different. This is a great rainy day project for everyone. You can personalize these by using permanent waterproof marker and adding their names to the placemats.
Hanging Spider
Using black styrofoam for the body and pipe cleaners for the legs (black), push the pipe cleaners in the styrofoam, making sure you add 4 legs on each side. Using paint, paint the eyes of the spider in red and using a piece of black string, hang the spider in your doorway. The kids will like this project as it is easy to do and they can make the spider in any size, making plenty of them.
